On January 28, 29 & 30 2005, the Olav Haavaldsrud Timber Company did host, once again, a regional curling bonspiel in the "Skins" format to help raise capital funds for the Community of Hornepayne.

The "Dare to Feed the Bears!" bonspiel was developed from a request by the community to help in their fund-raising activities. Belinda Kistemaker deliberated over finding a creative way to generate these funds in a manner that would promote the community on a regional basis and provide recreational benefits to participants.

Funds raised during this year's event a total of $11,734.03 will be directed towards the local volunteer fire department to help with the purchase of a highway rescue vehicle.
